In today’s show, we share how you can get airspace authorization for a contract towered airport. Does the authorization process for a contract towered airport differ from that of an FAA towered one?
Our caller, John, is in a fix. John needs to fly near a small regional airport that is contract towered. He already applied for a WAAS authorization through the FAADroneZone. But when he called up the tower operator, he was informed that operators of contract towers do not have the authority to grant airspace authorization. Is there any truth to this claim?
