Escaping reality just became easier with the DJI Mini 2 drone. Professional flight features and components were compressed into a 249 gram drone to create the best pocket drone on the market!
Let’s be honest… taking flight feels really good. Pilots can escape their problems and leave the world behind them. Flying offers a sense of relief, a flow state to explore the world from new heights.
By launching the industry’s newest drone, the Mini 2, DJI just opened the airspace to new pilots worldwide. DJI just made escaping reality more viable for experienced and would-be drone pilots. DJI’s newest drone offers significant value as it provides professional features in a sub 250 gram aircraft. In some countries, this drone may allow pilots to outright avoid any drone rules. When pilots can fly in more locations, they will take this pocket drone to more places!
When the first DJI Mavic Mini launched last year, we were not very excited. Features were limited, video size was only 2.7k and frankly the drone didn’t fly as smoothly as we would have liked.
The old Mini has a piss-poor connection range that left buyers thinking they bought a drone from the hardware store… The drone really failed to notch out a space in fleets and failed to impress consumers.
The Mini 2 is a drone-changer. Offering professional drone features that literally fit in your pocket. This moment in drone history is comparable to when the iPhone dropped in 2007… creating truly smart phones. Well now, we have a smart drone that fits in our pockets. Mini 2 really is the best pocket drone available today.
The new DJI drone isn’t even called the Mavic Mini 2, it is simply the Mini 2. And for good reason.
This new drone offers almost the same professional features that you would find in a Mavic Pro.
Pause… think about that…. Mavic Pro was a professional travel drone just 4 years ago. At double the price of the Mini 2, the Mavic Pro was known to have robust autonomy and imaging solutions packed into a folding drone.
Experienced drone pilots will love the Mini 2’s OcuSync 2.0. This robust (remote) command and control link allows drone pilots to have a solid and reliable remote transmission. With OcuSync, pilots are accustomed to flying their drones quite far without the fear of signal loss or a flyaway.
The new Mini 2 drone allows pilots to have extreme confidence while in-flight. The drone’s telemetry and video signal provide the pilot with near-zero latency at significant distance. The Mini 2 will have no problem finding ways into backpacks of teens and briefcases of adults. Yet, you won’t need a backpack, because you can fit the Mini 2 drone in your pocket.
The original Mini wouldn’t even allow people to take raw images, stacked images or have full control of the photograph. The Mini 2 offers much more functionality in the exact same size package. Most photographers that I know will be stoked to learn the Mini 2 offers Raw images. Pilots will now be able to capture raw images, or stack multiple raw images together for mind-blowing HDR photos. Pilots can now further push the shadows and highlights of their photos when editing raw images. Raw imagery offers photographers a range of editing flexibility that simply can’t be done with a JPEG.
A common complaint that I heard about the old mini was the lack of 4k video. Now the Mini 2 not only offers 4k video, but 4k video at 100mpbs… which offers more depth for your establishing aerials. While the bit rate on the video is a nice upgrade, the true magic is in the ability to shoot raw photos.
Most drones below the $500 price point cannot fly more than 500 feet away or take raw imagery. Most drones below $500 might fold, but they will probably break in your backpack too. The Mini 2 is easily the best pocket drone on the market that offers raw imagery, 4k video and reliable video transmission.
Remember when DSLR cameras shrunk down to pocket cameras? We’re now seeing pocket drones offer the same powerful features as much larger drones. Wherever you can take your phone, you will be able to take your drone.
Just like your phone, you won’t have to register this drone… if you fly for fun.
Pocket drones offer significantly more value than any pocket camera ever could. Pocket cameras aren’t really regulated worldwide. You can buy a camera and snap some photos. Boom…easy.
Buying a drone is not as simple as buying a camera! Travel to many countries and learn that you can’t take flight. What a bummer right!?! Well many countries have notched out a “micro-drone,” exemption from regulations. Essentially stating that if an aircraft weighs less than 250grams, the drone is exempt from certain regulations. Literally allowing new drone pilots to discover flight and fly below the radar of regulations.
If you’re planning on moving to Canada anytime soon, you’ll love the fact that you can fly the Mini 2 just about anywhere without a license or regulatory concerns.
For less than $500 the Mini 2 offers almost the same features as the Mavic Pro, but it literally fits in your jacket pocket. Whether you’re just taking flight, or own a fleet of drones… everyone will find value in this amazing aircraft that we call the best pocket drone.
As always, we recommend the fly more combo when buying the drone. Protect your drone with a Mini Landing Pad.
