Our biggest drone news story this week is about DJI’s new Drone to Phone Remote ID technology. To assuage escalating concerns over drone security, industry leader, DJI recently introduced this new technology which makes it possible to detect drones within a 1-km range using an app. While this technology may help locate rogue drones and ensure airspace safety, does it raise any privacy issues for drone pilots? And, how will the FAA enforce compliance once this app is formally launched next year?
