Take Your Drone Mapping Skills to the Next Level with Our Desktop-Based Mapping Deep Dive
Our Desktop-Based Mapping Class is designed for drone professionals looking to gain expert-level skills in processing, analyzing, and manipulating mapping data. This intensive course utilizes Pix4DMapper, Pix4DReact, and Pix4DMatic, providing a comprehensive hands-on experience in advanced drone mapping techniques. Day 1 mirrors the Cloud-Based Class, covering mapping fundamentals, business strategies, pricing, and sales techniques to help you turn your mapping skills into a profitable business. Days 2 and 3 take a deep dive into advanced processing techniques, including RTK and PPK georeferencing workflows, point cloud manipulation, and dataset merging for complex reconstructions.
This course goes far beyond the basics, equipping you with cutting-edge tools and workflows for high-precision deliverables. You’ll master deleting, editing, and classifying point clouds, learn how to create highly detailed 3D models using drones and Insta360 cameras, and merge datasets to build complete, photorealistic reconstructions of real-world environments. Exclusive to Pix4DMapper, you'll explore video animation creation, bringing your 3D models to life for client presentations. Additionally, Pix4D React will enable you to generate fast orthomosaics with annotations, while Pix4DMatic provides solutions for processing large datasets, accident reconstruction, and hyper-realistic models. If you're serious about mastering the technical side of drone mapping, this course will give you the skills, confidence, and software expertise to deliver professional-grade results in any mapping scenario.
Desktop Class Overview and Learning Outcomes
FLIGHT MASTERY (Day 1):
If you're looking to enhance your flight skills (and who among us doesn't need to enhance our flight skills), you can achieve it through our Flight Mastery Course on day 1. Our Flight Mastery course is a training based on our obstacle course built from 12 exercises to build confidence in students' ability to fly and make educated decisions in flight. The primary goal of the class is to teach students the strategies and techniques we've learned over the past several years that will enable students to fly with confidence and in a way that mitigates risk while pushing themselves to be the best pilot possible.
This course will focus on individual flight movements that aid in the development of a firm foundation of flight knowledge and experience. Participants will work with experienced pilots who will guide them through the process of improving their flight skills and understanding of UAV operations.
At the end of the Flight Mastery class, students will have the opportunity to fly our obstacle course and be tested on their abilities. This is a great opportunity to test yourself in a safe environment with expert feedback.
OPTIONAL VIDEOGRAPHY CLASS (Day 5):
Every drone pilot wants the confidence to capture smooth, cinematic video in any situation. On this day, you’ll get the chance to practice smooth flight motions, fine-tune your drone setup, and dial in the right settings to consistently capture epic footage.
You'll learn the 10 essential flight techniques, including smooth crane shots, dolly zooms, reveals, orbits, and more. This extra day is perfect for mastering the shots you need for any type of video production—whether it’s weddings, marketing promos, small business reels, or even commercials.
Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your flying skills and enhance your video productions!

You folks do such a superior job educating people compared to all other drone educational entities. My experiences (business boot camp, Fly-In & mapping class) have been the best investment of my time and money that I have made in a long, long time. The people met and relationships formed during those events are truly treasured. I have never been happier to give an absolutely outstanding company my money as I am to the DroneU every month- worth every penny.
Again, THANK YOU!!! for the loyalty offer. I applaud and appreciate the time, effort, depth of knowledge and encouragement! that you folks put into the podcasts, website, webinars, in-person classes and Facebook groups. DroneU is a model enterprise that nurtures the drone community through hard work and a personal commitment to relationships.

My first introduction into photogrammetry was at the San Diego Mapping class put on by The Drone U. As it was my first look at the material, I felt that I needed more information about the subject and decided to attend a workshop sponsored by Pix4D. Walking away from the class, I felt that I had a decent understanding of the subject. However, after listening to a recent episode of the Ask DroneU podcast, I decided to attend the Las Vegas class.
What would prompt a person to take an introductory mapping class three times? The obvious answer is, because of the amount of information about the topic is so immense, it is impossible to retain everything, and a second or even third look is required, but why the Drone U instead of an additional Pix4D sponsored workshops? Because the training is more hands on.
I am not discounting the training from Pix4D in any way, the Pix4D workshop was very well structured and very thorough. But and this is the only complaint, you do not get any hands-on training with regards to data collection. With the Drone U course, you are given instruction in using the various autonomous flight applications and training in the field for proper use of your drone during the capture process. You also can observe the flight operations of the other students and instructors.
